India Big Cat Safari: Tiger & Leopard Tour

  • 12 Nights / 13 Days
  • Delhi - Jaipur - Ranthambore - Jawai - Udaipur - Delhi

Tour Overview

This journey is designed for travellers who want to focus specifically on India’s most iconic predators while also experiencing the landscapes that define their habitats. Over 12 nights and 13 days, the itinerary brings together two completely different wildlife environments—Ranthambore, known for its tiger population within a dry deciduous forest, and Jawai, a unique region where leopards live among granite hills and open terrain. The contrast between these locations creates a more complete and engaging safari experience.

The journey begins in Delhi and moves towards Rajasthan, where the first phase of exploration takes place in Ranthambore. Here, the forest environment, dotted with lakes and ruins, provides an ideal setting for tiger sightings. After spending time in this structured national park, the route continues towards Jawai, where the experience becomes more open and less regulated, offering a different kind of wildlife interaction focused on leopards.

The itinerary is designed to allow enough time in each location so that safaris are not rushed and the experience remains meaningful. Rather than relying on a single outing, multiple safaris are included to improve the chances of sightings and to understand the landscape in detail. The journey also includes Jaipur and Udaipur, adding cultural and scenic balance without taking away from the wildlife focus.

Tour Itinerary :

Day 1 – Arrival in Delhi

After arriving in Delhi, you will be received and transferred to your hotel. The arrival process is kept smooth and organised so that you can settle in comfortably without any delays. Delhi acts as the starting point for this long wildlife journey, providing a convenient entry into the itinerary.

Once you check into your hotel, the rest of the day is kept free for rest. This is important before beginning a multi-destination journey that includes early mornings and travel days. The hotel provides a calm environment to relax and prepare.

In the evening, you may take a short walk or simply rest. The day is intentionally light to ensure a comfortable beginning.

Day 2 – Delhi to Jaipur

After breakfast, you will begin your journey towards Jaipur. The drive is steady and allows for a gradual transition from a metropolitan city to Rajasthan’s cultural landscape. The route is well-connected and comfortable, with breaks planned along the way.

On arrival in Jaipur, you will check into your hotel and take some time to rest. The city offers a structured layout and a sense of openness compared to Delhi, making it a comfortable stop before entering wildlife regions.

The evening is free for relaxation or light exploration. This day helps ease into the journey before the safari phase begins.

Day 3 – Jaipur Exploration

The day is dedicated to exploring Jaipur’s forts and city areas. While this is not a wildlife day, it provides cultural context and variety within the itinerary. The architecture, layout and historical background offer insight into Rajasthan’s past.

Moving between locations is planned in a way that avoids unnecessary rush. The pace remains comfortable, allowing you to enjoy each place without feeling overwhelmed.

The evening is free for relaxation. This prepares you for the transition to Ranthambore the next day.

Day 4 – Jaipur to Ranthambore

After breakfast, you will travel towards Ranthambore National Park. The journey is relatively short and marks a clear shift from city environment to forest landscape. As you approach the park, the surroundings become quieter and more open.

On arrival, you will check into your wildlife lodge. These lodges are usually located close to the park and offer a comfortable yet nature-focused environment. After check-in, time is reserved for rest.

The evening is free, allowing you to settle into the forest surroundings. This transition is important before beginning safari activities.

Day 5 – Ranthambore Safari Experience

The day begins early with a safari inside the park. Morning drives are essential in wildlife tours, as this is when animal movement is more active. The terrain of Ranthambore, with its lakes, ruins and open forest, creates a visually rich experience.

As you move through different zones, the focus is on observing the forest as a whole—tracks, sounds and movement all contribute to the experience. While tiger sightings depend on timing and luck, the journey itself remains engaging.

After returning to the lodge, time is reserved for rest. In the afternoon, you will head out again for another safari, exploring a different part of the park.

Day 6 – Ranthambore Safari & Forest Observation

Another full day is dedicated to Ranthambore, allowing you to deepen your understanding of the forest. Multiple safaris increase the chances of sightings and help you observe different aspects of wildlife behaviour.

Each safari offers a different experience depending on the route, light and animal activity. Over time, you begin to recognise patterns in the forest, making the experience more immersive.

The evening is free for relaxation at the lodge. The slower pace ensures that the journey does not become exhausting.

Day 7 – Ranthambore to Jawai

After breakfast, you will begin your journey towards Jawai, a region known for its leopard population and unique rocky landscape. The drive takes you through rural Rajasthan, offering glimpses of local life along the way.

On arrival near Jawai Leopard Safari, you will check into your camp or lodge. The environment here feels very different from Ranthambore, with open terrain and granite hills replacing dense forest.

The evening is free for relaxation.

Day 8 – Jawai Leopard Safari Experience

The day begins early with your first leopard safari in Jawai Leopard Safari. Unlike structured national parks, Jawai offers a more open and flexible safari experience, where tracking is based on movement, local knowledge and terrain understanding. The rocky hills and caves in this region are known habitats for leopards, making it one of the best places in India for sightings.

As you move through the landscape, the environment feels very different from traditional forests. The granite formations, scattered vegetation and open plains create clear visibility, which often increases the chances of spotting wildlife. Leopards here are known to coexist relatively close to local communities, adding a unique dimension to the experience.

After the morning safari, you will return to your camp for rest. In the afternoon, another safari is planned, offering a different perspective as the light changes and animal activity shifts. The evening is spent relaxing in the natural surroundings.

Day 9 – Jawai Safari & Rural Landscape

Another day is dedicated to exploring the Jawai region in more depth. With multiple safaris, you get a better understanding of how wildlife moves across this terrain. The experience becomes less about a single sighting and more about observing patterns and behaviour.

During the safari, you may also encounter other wildlife such as hyenas, foxes and a variety of bird species. The open environment allows for a wider view of the ecosystem, making each drive visually engaging.

The rest of the day is kept flexible. You may choose to relax at your lodge, enjoy the quiet surroundings or take in views of the hills. This balance ensures that the journey remains comfortable.

Day 10 – Jawai to Udaipur

After breakfast, you will travel towards Udaipur. The drive passes through rural Rajasthan, offering scenic views and a gradual transition from rugged landscapes to a more developed city environment.

On arrival in Udaipur, you will check into your hotel and take some time to rest. Known for its lakes and architecture, the city provides a calm and visually appealing setting after the intensity of safari days.

In the evening, you may explore areas around the lake or simply relax. The shift from wildlife to a cultural environment creates a balanced flow in the itinerary.

Day 11 – Udaipur Exploration

The day is dedicated to exploring Udaipur at a relaxed pace. The city is known for its lakes, palaces and scenic surroundings, offering a completely different atmosphere compared to the previous destinations.

Walking through the city or visiting key sites allows you to experience its layout and character. The presence of water bodies and surrounding hills adds to the visual appeal, making it a pleasant place to explore.

The afternoon is free for leisure. This allows you to slow down after multiple safari days and enjoy the surroundings comfortably.

Day 12 – Udaipur to Delhi

After breakfast, you will travel back to Delhi, either by flight or train depending on the arrangement. The journey marks the final transition of the itinerary, moving from Rajasthan back to the capital.

On arrival in Delhi, you will check into your hotel and rest. The return to a larger city environment feels different after spending time in remote wildlife areas.

The evening is free for relaxation, giving you time to prepare for departure.

Day 13 – Departure

After breakfast, you will be transferred for your onward journey. The departure is arranged to ensure a smooth and comfortable exit.

As the journey concludes, the contrast between Ranthambore’s dense forests and Jawai’s open landscapes becomes one of the defining highlights. The experience of tracking both tigers and leopards across different terrains adds depth to the overall trip.

This completes your India Big Cat Safari, offering a focused and immersive wildlife experience combined with cultural balance.
